Abstract
A 2026 survey conducted by Wall Street X examined investor expectations regarding the next major investment megatrend. Responses were collected from August 7 to September 4, 2026, with 30 participants identifying the sector or theme they believed was most likely to emerge as the next significant investment trend. Quantum computing was the dominant response, identified by 36.7% of respondents, followed by robotics and robotic actuators at 16.7% and energy infrastructure at 10.0%. The results suggest that investor expectations are concentrated primarily around emerging technologies and the physical infrastructure required to support them.
Survey Results
We asked investors: “What is the next investment megatrend after AI?”. Among the 30 responses, 11 respondents identified quantum computing (36.7%), more than twice the second most popular answer which was robotics and robotic actuators (16.7%). Energy infrastructure ranked third with three responses (10.0%). All other responses received statistically insignificant amount of votes.
The distribution indicates a relatively strong concentration at the top. The three most frequently selected themes—quantum computing, robotics, and energy infrastructure—accounted for 63.3% of all responses. At the same time, the presence of nine additional responses across a diverse collection of sectors demonstrates considerable disagreement over where the next major investment opportunity will emerge.

| Answer | Votes | Percentage |
| Quantum Computing | 11 | 37% |
| Robots/Robotic Actuators | 5 | 17% |
| Energy Infrastructure | 3 | 10% |
| Defence/Security | 2 | 7% |
| Unsure | 2 | 7% |
| Nuclear | 1 | 3% |
| Bitcoin | 1 | 3% |
| Healthcare/Pharmaceuticals | 1 | 3% |
| Rare Earth Metals | 1 | 3% |

| Software As A Service (SAAS) | 1 | 3% |
| Data Centers | 1 | 3% |
Limitations and Conclusion
Investors were self-identified, and their extent of participation in the stock markets was not verified. A sample size of 30 is also too small to represent the broader investor population conclusively. Nevertheless, a sample of 30 is sufficient for this survey which was intended to identify anticipated areas of investor interest.
Overall, the findings suggest that investors predominantly expect Quantum Computing to be the next major investment cycle after AI.
